What are cookies?
A “cookie” is a kind of biscuit, but in the field of web browsing, a “cookie” is something completely different.
When you access our website, a small amount of text called a “cookie” is stored on your device’s browser. This text contains information about your browsing habits, preferences and personalisation of content, etc.
There are other technologies that work in a similar way and are also used to collect data about your browsing activity. We will refer to all these technologies together as “cookies”.
The specific uses we make of these technologies are described in this document.
What are cookies used for on this website?
Cookies are an essential part of how our website works. The main purpose of our cookies is to improve your browsing experience. For example, to remember your preferences (language, country, etc.) during browsing and on future visits. The information collected in the cookies also allows us to improve the website, adapt it to your interests as a user and speed up the searches you make, etc.
In certain cases, if we have obtained your prior informed consent, we may use cookies for other purposes, e.g. to obtain information that lets us show you advertising based on an analysis of your browsing habits.
What are cookies NOT used for on this website?
No sensitive personally identifiable information, such as your name, address, password, etc. is stored in the cookies we use.
Who uses the information stored in the cookies?
The information stored in the cookies on our website is used exclusively by us, except for those identified below as ‘third-party cookies’, which are used and managed by external entities that provide us with services that improve the user experience. For example, statistics collected on the number of visits, most liked content, etc.
Third-party cookies are also often used to secure payment transactions made via the website.
How can I prevent the use of cookies on this website?
If you prefer to avoid the use of cookies, you can REJECT their use or you can CONFIGURE the ones you want to avoid and the ones you allow (in our cookie control centre, using the CONFIGURATION button at the top or bottom of this window, we provide more information about each type of cookie, its purpose, recipient and duration, etc.).
If you have accepted them, we will not ask you again unless you delete the cookies on your device as described in the next section.
If you want to revoke your consent, you will need to delete your cookies and reset them.
How do I disable and delete cookies?
You can restrict, block or delete cookies from this website (and those used by third parties) at any time:
- Through our cookie control centre, accessed via the CONFIGURATION button at the top or bottom of this window.
- By modifying your browser settings. Bear in mind that this configuration is different in each browser, although cookie configuration is usually found in the ‘Preferences’, ‘Tools’, ‘Options’ menu and then in ‘Privacy and Security’ or in ‘Delete browsing data’, etc.
For more details on how to configure cookies in each browser, see the ‘Help’ menu of your browser.
What types of cookies are used on this website?
Each website uses its own cookies. We use the following on our
website:
ACCORDING TO PROCESSOR
- Own cookies:
These are cookies sent to the user’s terminal from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
- Third-party cookies:
These are the cookies sent to the user’s terminal from a computer or domain not managed by the publisher, but rather by another entity that processes the data obtained via the cookies.
If the cookies are served from a computer or domain managed by the publisher itself, but the information collected via the cookies is processed by a third party, they cannot be considered as own cookies if the third party uses them for its own purposes (e.g. to improve the services it provides or to provide advertising services for other entities).
ACCORDING TO PURPOSE
- Technical or necessary cookies:
These cookies are necessary for browsing and the proper functioning of our website, e.g. controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items that make up an order, performing the purchase process of an order, managing payment, controlling fraud linked to the security of the service, applying for registration or participation in an event, counting visits for billing software licences with which the service works (website, platform or application), using security elements during browsing, storing content for broadcasting video or audio, enabling dynamic content (e.g. animation for loading a text or image) or sharing content through the social media.
- Analysis or statistical cookies:
These cookies quantify the number of users and make it possible to carry out the measurement and statistical analysis of the use of the service by users. Your browsing is therefore analysed on our website to improve the range of products or services on offer.
- Preference or personalisation cookies:
These cookies allow information to be remembered so that users can access the service with certain characteristics that may differentiate their experience from that of other users, e.g. the language, the number of results to be displayed when the user performs a search, the appearance or content of the service depending on the type of browser through which or the region from which the user accesses the service, etc.
- Behavioural advertising or marketing:
These cookies are processed by us or by third parties and allow us to analyse your browsing habits on the Internet so that we can show you advertising related to your browsing profile.
ACCORDING TO DURATION
- Session cookies:
These are designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page.
They are normally used to store information that is only relevant for the service requested by the user on one single occasion (e.g. a list of products purchased) and they disappear at the end of the session.
- Persistent cookies:
These are cookies in which the data remains stored on the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the party responsible for the cookie, which can range from a few minutes to several years. Consequently, it should be specifically assessed whether the use of persistent cookies is necessary, as privacy risks may be reduced by using session cookies.
In any case, when persistent cookies are installed, their duration should be reduced to a minimum according to their purpose. To this end, Art. 29 WP of 4/2012 indicated that for a cookie to be exempt from the duty of informed consent, its expiry must be related to its purpose. As a result, session cookies are much more likely to be exempted than persistent cookies.
