¿What is the objective of the ATEX Directives?

The objective of the Directives 1999/92/EC, included in the ROYAL DECREE 681/2003 and the Directive 94/9/EC, included in the Royal Decree 400/1996 is to minimise or eliminate the risks caused by the potential presence of explosive atmospheres in specific activities, in this event, to limit the harmful effects of an explosion.

 

What type of industries are affected by ATEX?

All those industries that, due to the nature of the substances they store, handle or transform, run the risk of explosive atmospheres:

 

a) Agri-food Industry: • Sugar Factories • Animal feed factories • Flour and semolina factories • Beer and malt factories • Bread and bun factories • Chocolate factories • Sweets factories • Coffee or tea factories • Dairies • Cereal storage silos • Etc...
